The individual production steps of battery cells are then explained. A presentation of the commonly used electrode materials is followed by an evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages of various cell chemistries and cell designs for use in a commercial vehicle. Building on this, an introduction to the design and layout of battery cell modules and battery packs is given. Emission-free drives are gradually replacing diesel drives as the dominant drive technology in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, among other things. The batteries used in zero-emission commercial vehicles will play a central role in this change, as they have a significant influence on both the technical characteristics of the vehicle and its life cycle costs. The requirements for high-voltage batteries in commercial vehicles and their technical properties can sometimes differ greatly from those of high-voltage batteries in passenger cars. This event will therefore focus on the design and conception of high-voltage batteries for zero-emission commercial vehicles. Emission-free means locally without exhaust fumes.
