We demonstrated Potassium hexachlorostannate, K2SnCl6 (KSC) as a new electrode material for non-aqueous chloride-ion batteries. K2SnCl6 microstructures are synthesized through the one-pot mechanochemical ball-billing route, which is an effective way in comparison to high-temperature sintering techniques and organic solvent-assisted processes. The electrochemical performance of anti-fluorite structured K2SnCl6 has been investigated in non-aqueous electrolytes with lithium metal as anode. Further, to understand the structural changes during cycling and the electrochemical reaction mechanism, ex-situ X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements were conducted.
